Connecticut Law Firm Offering Continued Support for Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation’s “Be a Voice” Fundraiser
The Connecticut personal injury law firm of Polito & Harrington is proud to continue its support of the Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation’s “Be a Voice” Fundraiser. With the firm’s support, last year’s event raised nearly $10,000 to help children with cancer, 100 percent of which goes to supporting the children with cancer and their families.
Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation’s mission is to advance and promote medical efforts related to the study of cancer in children, to support and enhance education in the field of pediatric oncology, to enhance and support research in pediatric oncology and related fields, to facilitate and improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting pediatric cancer cells and related structures, and engaging or performing any and all activities necessary or incidental to the purposes listed above.
The organization was founded in 2009 by Dena and Billy Sherwood, parents of Billy Jr., who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma the previous year. Today, Billy Jr. is a cancer survivor and has no evidence of disease. Arms Wide Open works closely with researchers, doctors, and scientists who are pioneers in the field of pediatric oncology and raised money for alternative therapies and actual treatments that children who have been diagnosed with cancer need to survive. This year, Be a Voice event will be held on Saturday, September 8th at Essex Elementary School. 100 percent of the funds raised will go to supporting kids fighting cancer and their families and funding research.
